Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa: What to Expect

Last summer, I had the chance to stay at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa with my kids, and I can confidently say the location alone makes it a standout choice. Situated directly across the street from the iconic Duke Kahanamoku statue—the heart of Waikiki Beach—this resort puts you right in the center of Honolulu’s most vibrant beachfront scene. If you’re dreaming of that classic Hawaiian resort experience, this place delivers exactly what you’re picturing: lush surroundings, ocean views, and a laid-back atmosphere. It even feels like a self-contained village, with everything you might need right on the property.

What Makes the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa Great

Prime Location

One of the best features of this resort is how easy it is to get around. You're just steps from the beach, which means you can go from your room to the water in minutes. The resort is also conveniently close to the International Market Place, luxury shops, casual eateries, and ABC Stores for anything you might’ve forgotten to pack.

Guests are given wristband keys, which double as your room access. This is especially handy when heading down to the beach—you can borrow towels from the hotel and take a swim without worrying about carrying hotel keys or valuables. It really enhances the relaxed, carefree vibe.

Ocean Views from Your Room

Many of the rooms boast stunning views of the Pacific, and it’s worth booking one if you can. Waking up to the sound of the waves and watching the sunset from your balcony is a daily highlight that adds to the feeling that you're truly on vacation.

A Convenient Resort Feel

From dining options to boutiques, a spa, and an activities desk, the Hyatt Regency Waikiki offers nearly everything you need without having to leave the property. This convenience is especially helpful if you're traveling with kids or want to simplify your plans.

A Few Tips Before You Visit the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa

Expect Some Crowds

Because it’s a popular resort in a busy location, the hotel can be quite bustling at times. When we checked in, the main lobby was upstairs, and the escalator happened to be out of service. We had to carry our luggage up a stairwell with limited help available, which wasn’t ideal. It’s not always like that, but it’s something to be aware of if you’re arriving with lots of bags or young kids.

Room Service Availability

As of the last visit, full room service was not available, but guests could order from a takeaway menu and pick it up from designated areas. It’s always a good idea to check the latest offerings through the Hyatt app or by calling the front desk once you arrive.

Information For World of Hyatt Globalist Members Heading to the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa

Breakfast for Globalists

If you're a Globalist member, breakfast is served in the Regency Club Lounge, not in the resort's main buffet restaurant. The lounge is quite small considering the size of the property, and while the selection is decent—including fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt, and hot items—it’s more of a quick bite than a full dining experience like you get at the Hyatt Regency Da Nang in Vietnam. That said, it’s enough to fuel up before a day of exploring, and there are so many great food options nearby that you’ll likely want to try something local later in the day anyway.

Globalist Welcome Gift

Upon arrival, we found a lovely box of chocolate-covered macadamia nuts in our room, along with a handwritten welcome note. It’s a small gesture, but it made us feel appreciated as loyal Hyatt guests.

Is There at Gym at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa?

Yes, there is. The gym at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki is modern, spacious, and well-equipped. You’ll find treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, resistance machines, and yoga mats—perfect if you want to keep your fitness routine going while enjoying your holiday. There’s also a full-service Na Ho’ola Spa onsite, located on the fifth floor, offering massages, facials, and wellness treatments inspired by Hawaiian traditions.

Why Choose the Hyatt Regency Waikiki?

If you're looking for a beachfront resort that combines convenience, comfort, and the magic of Hawaiian hospitality, the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa is a solid choice. You’ll enjoy:

  • Immediate access to Waikiki Beach

  • Comfortable rooms with ocean views

  • A central location near shops and restaurants

  • Benefits as a  World of Hyatt member

  • Family-friendly amenities and easy beach access

Just be prepared for some crowds, and double-check the status of amenities like escalators or room service ahead of time if those are important to you. All in all, it’s a fantastic base for your Honolulu adventure—and one we’d happily return to.
