Grand Hyatt Seoul: What to Expect

My biggest impression of this hotel came when I was enjoying the Club Lounge, it was very obvious that this is a hotel where important business is done. Everyone seemed to be there for work, while I was just enjoying a leisurely holiday. There were others that were also clearly on holiday as well but the overall vibe of this property is more of a business slant.

The entryway is large and impressive, I saw several groups in the lobby the few times that I was downstairs. The property is located in a more secluded part of the city outside the hustle and bustle. It’s actually quite an impressive enclave. I believe that my tour guide said that the foreign embassies were nearby and that made sense with this hotel and how stately it seemed.

While the room was quite small, especially by Globalist standards, it was still a comfortable stay and the Club Lounge breakfast and evening canapes were something that I looked forward to each day.

What’s great about the Grand Hyatt Seoul

The Club Lounge

The Club Lounge at the Grand Hyatt Seoul has plenty of room, lots of newspapers and you’ll probably hear a lot of fancy people talking about the interesting business that they’re in town for. I thoroughly enjoyed starting every morning with rice, seaweed, kimchi, lotus root and whatever special dishes were put out that day. Of course, unlimited coffees and soft drinks were available. I do believe it is the largest Club Lounge that I’ve been to out of all the Hyatt properties that I’ve visited.

Breakfast at the Grand Hyatt Seoul Club Lounge. I ate much more than this each day for breakfast, but this was always my first plate every morning.

It's quiet and secluded

The view from the room is so serene with the hills, you feel quite distant from the bustling city. I found it to be a nice change of pace and though the room was small the windows framed the outdoors beautifully. I happily sat at the desk and worked on my computer, occasionally looking outside to remember exactly where I was.

Really made myself at home at the Grand Hyatt Seoul. I adored looking at the hillside landscape as the weather crept in.

The Globalist gift

The Globalist gift at the Grand Hyatt Seoul was beautifully packaged with a note about the tradition of the sweet treats that were inside. I do enjoy when a gift has extra meaning.

A few helpful tips before you stay at the Grand Hyatt Seoul

-          It’s a bit far from the main tourist areas. As I mentioned above, this seems to be the hotel you stay at when you have business. As someone on holiday, I booked a full day tour while I was staying here and I’m glad I did because this was the smallest of the rooms that I was staying in during my time in South Korea.

-          I did send a few items out for laundering and they returned to me quickly. I happened to intercept the person delivering them to my room and saw them carrying my delicates folded on a fancy tray. If I was a normal person I would be more embarrassed about this but I thought it was amusing.

-          The bathroom was very tiny, even for me and I’m all of 5 foot 2. If a luxury bathroom is the drawcard for you, keep that in mind.

Is there room service at the Grand Hyatt Seoul?

There is in room dining at the Grand Hyatt Seoul, though because of the extensive offering at the club lounge for both breakfast and ‘dinner’ (the cocktail hour).

Is there a Globalist breakfast at the Grand Hyatt Seoul?

Yes, it’s a breakfast buffet and it’s really good because they always have Korean fare, western fare and then some other specialties that change from day to day. I was able to try so many local dishes while staying here and I always looked forward to my kimchi, rice, and seaweed every morning.

Why should I stay at the Grand Hyatt Seoul?

The Grand Hyatt Seoul is a great spot for a business traveler who wants to be in a quieter area of the city and wants the convenience of a fully stocked Club Lounge, as I mentioned before, it’s one of the biggest and most formal Club Lounges that I’ve been to. Because it’s an older hotel compared to the newer properties in the Gangnam neighborhood, it’s very good value.

I would stay at this property again if I wanted to have a quiet few days, eat well, and focus on my writing.
